I think it is very exciting to take songs by other artists and give them a completely different sound, thereby enriching them with another interpretation. I like remixes where one beat doesn’t dominate, but where the melodies and structures of the song remain relevant.
So in my remixes, I try to carefully extract what is relevant and transplant it into a new soundscape and perhaps mood. Ideally, the remix could then function as a standalone version, which is something I often hear in feedback on my remixes.
